Weekend Recap

Another weekend gone by too fast, but it was a successful one. My run started late on Saturday. I had spent the day getting groceries, cleaning house and marking a few other things off of my to-do list. I finished my 5 miles, though, and it actually went by really fast. I think the lack of direct sunlight helped with that.

Sunday I meal prepped and finished laundry. Then Ciji and I ran 5 miles on the trails. She is in better shape than I am when it comes to trails. I had to stop a few times to catch my breath and give my legs a break. In the end, we pushed through, and we both felt accomplished once it was done. After that, Alex and I finally had the evening to spend together by the pool. He grilled some grass-fed, grain-finished steak from a farm down the road for dinner. We also had a salad made of farm-grown tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers and some brown rice. We finished the night off with a movie.

For the past few weekends we have been working on various home improvement projects. This past weekend I did a small laundry room makeover.

We added some wallpaper to make an "accent" wall, and I peeled off some hideous stickers that were on the cabinets for Lord knows how long. Finally, I took out an old cabinet and shelves that just really didn't flow, and it all made for a more modern, cleaner look.

This is the only Monday I will have off of training between now and race day, so I plan to get to bed early and take full advantage. Tomorrow I have an easy-paced 5 miles to do. I also decided to go by the Hansons Half Marathon Method for the remainder of my training, which means less weights and more weekly mileage. I'll be doing a book review once I finish reading it!
